Visual Editing Mode: Edit Markdown as formatted text instead of raw syntax. Headings, bold, italic, links, images, code blocks, quotes, lists, tables and rules all render in place as you type, with a formatting toolbar and dialogs for editing links, images, alt text and code-block languages. Switch between Source and Visual with a toggle or your own keyboard shortcut, and choose which mode new documents open in. Your file is saved byte-for-byte as it was written — if an edit can’t be applied safely, MarkNode tells you why and returns to Source rather than changing anything unexpected.
Outline and Mind Map for Code Files: The Outline and Mind Map panels now show a navigable structure for code and data files — Rust, JavaScript, TypeScript, JSX/TSX, Python, Go, Java, C, C++, HTML, CSS, JSON, YAML, TOML and XML — with per-symbol icons and click-to-jump navigation. Markdown keeps its fully editable structure.
Copy, Cut and Paste Outline Nodes: Select nodes in the Outline or Mind Map and copy, cut or paste whole subtrees — across panels, files and windows — with a clipboard indicator in both toolbars and clear confirmation of how many nodes moved.
Paste Anything as Outline Nodes: Paste text copied from a browser or another app into the Outline or Mind Map and it becomes nodes. Headings, lists and nesting are preserved, and for plain multi-line text you choose whether to create one node or split it into several — with a preview of what will be created.
MarkNode in Your Language: The app and website are now available in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Your language is detected from your system — including regional variants such as Taiwanese and Hong Kong Chinese, Austrian German and Canadian French — and you can override it in Settings. Changing it updates the whole interface, menus included, without a restart.
Match Preview in Find in Files: Search results now show syntax-highlighted context around the selected match in a resizable split you can drag, and the size is remembered. Arrow keys step through matches across files with live preview, and Enter opens the match.
HTML File Preview: Open an .html file and see it rendered live alongside the source. Links to other local files open in the workspace; external links open in your browser.
Git Branches from the Status Bar: Click the branch name in the status bar to filter and switch between local branches, or type a new name to create one — no terminal needed. Clear messages explain what went wrong when a switch isn’t possible.
Search History: The Find and Replace boxes remember what you searched for. Press the down arrow or the chevron button to pick a recent term, clear a box with a single click, and clear the history when you want a fresh start. History survives closing files and restarting the app.
Application Menu on Windows and Linux: A menu button in the title bar opens the full File, Edit, View, Tools, Window and Help menu as a real system menu. Open it with Alt or F10, jump to a menu with Alt and its underlined letter, and navigate the whole tree from the keyboard.
Shared Always Show Patterns: Patterns that keep normally-hidden files visible are now shared across all your projects, using full gitignore-style matching. Enable or disable any shared pattern per project, and import or export your pattern lists.
Improvements
Search and Edit Actions Follow Your Focus: Find opens in the pane you’re actually working in — file tree, outline, terminal or editor — and Select All, Copy, Cut and Paste in the Edit menu act on the focused panel rather than always the editor.
Select All in the Terminal: Select All now genuinely selects the terminal buffer, and works in the HTML preview too. The plain shortcut still reaches your shell, so readline and tmux prefix keys are unaffected.
Publishing a New Branch: Pushing a branch that doesn’t exist on the remote yet now publishes it for you, with plain-language messages instead of raw Git errors.
Popups and the Search Panel Follow Your Theme: Autocomplete popups, hover tooltips and the Find and Replace panel now render correctly in every theme, using the app’s own scrollbars.
Sharper Interface Details: Icons and text line up properly throughout the app — tabs, tree rows, menus, breadcrumbs, source control, search results and the status bar — and Windows 11 and Linux now use the desktop’s real system typeface. Spreadsheet files get their own icon in the file tree.
Tidier Terminal Header: The new-session button sits next to the terminal tabs where you’d expect it, with the minimize control separated so it’s harder to hit by mistake.
Quieter Recent Files: Generated folders such as build, dist and tool caches no longer clutter recent files or trigger file-change activity, while staying visible if you keep drafts there.
Safer Support Logs: Sign-in tokens are no longer written to log files, so sharing a log for support no longer exposes a credential.
Bug Fixes
App Froze When Opening a File from Finder: Double-clicking a Markdown file could hang MarkNode before any window appeared, forcing a force-quit. Fixed — and the file you clicked now actually opens.
Folder Access No Longer Silently Lost: Previously granted folders — including iCloud Drive folders — no longer quietly lose access and vanish from Recent Projects. Access is re-established automatically where possible, and you’re asked to re-grant it only when genuinely needed.
Find Opens the Right Search Bar: The Find shortcut in the Markdown editor reliably opens the editor’s own search again instead of another panel’s find bar.
Complex Mermaid Diagrams Render Correctly: Diagrams using shapes or line breaks inside nodes are no longer drawn incorrectly, and wide diagrams now scroll properly instead of being squeezed.
PDFs Open Reliably: Fixed PDFs failing to load, and opening a second PDF in quick succession no longer leaves the previous document on screen.
Wrapped Headings in the Outline: Long headings wrap again instead of overlapping the row below.
File Icons Render Properly: File-type icons in the file tree are drawn as intended rather than as hollow outlines.
Update Dialog Shows the Right Notes: The update prompt no longer shows release notes from a previous check or appears before it’s ready.
